Sony set to launch PlayStation mobile games

Sony is all set to plan its expansion to the mobile universe. You may find some of the popular games PlayStation games on mobile platforms.

Some of the games are about to shift their loyalties from PCs and play stations to iOS and Android smartphones. Which are they?

Games such as God Of The War, Uncharted, The Last Of Us, and Ratchet And Clank may find their way on iOS and Android phones. Similarly, years old PlayStation games such as Horizon Zero Dawn will inch their way towards you through your smartphones.

What does Sony intend to do?

Sony has recently announced that its PlayStation games will soon be available on mobile devices. It is a clear indication that Sony intends to become a multi-platform developer using its hardware. Sony has already been having its hardware for games on PCs and play stations. But now, it has its eyes set upon expanding the gaming horizon to iOS and Android smartphones.

How will Sony do it?

The business plan of extending games to mobile platforms is a good 5-year long-term project by Sony. However, it intends to run PS 5 strategy alongside this mobile gaming proposition. Sony expects to find a leader who can help develop and plant games into smartphones with at least 15 years of experience in the gaming industry, specifically in creating, growing, and running mobile operations while translating IP into the game property, mobile or a console.

The lookout for the leader

According to the Eurogamer reports, the employment circuit found a new job listing for the ‘Head of Mobile.’ The listing explained the scope of the job by stating that as ‘Head of Mobile,’ the individual will own and develop the strategy of the mobile game for the PlayStation studios. The ‘Head of Mobile’ will also help to build a foundation for the growth opportunities for gaming in mobile in the future. The scope further extends for the individual to lead all aspects of the expansion of the company’s game development from consoles and PCs to mobile and live services, focusing on successfully adapting the PlayStation’s some of the most popular franchises for mobile versions.

The Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) president and CEO Jim Ryan states that the mobile gaming market is a booming one and has grown to an enormous $121 billion in revenue across the world in the year 2020 compared to a meagre $62 billion during the year in the consoles. Ryan also states that Sony is very interested in launching mobile game versions of its key franchises, namely Predator and Horizon Zero Dawn, from PC to mobile. Sony further promises to bring its ‘Iconic IP’ in the year 2021 to the smartphones as per their recent presentation during an investor relations meeting.

It may not be surprising to find the God of War’s Kratos flex on a smartphone or Ratchet and Clank ham on the iPad in the latter half of the year. You may find many of your favourite Gaming characters fighting to grab your attention on your smartphones during the year.
