Google chat brings gender-neutral emoji set with focused emoji inclusion
Emojis are a vital aspect of present-day communication- now, planners are making them more inclusive.
Google Chat is modernizing its current emoji set to the most recent version. The new set of emojis plan to enhance the heterogeneity and inclusion quotient of communicating through eloquence. The update began slowly rolling out to Android devices. Google Chat for Web and iOS will receive the update in the upcoming days. Earlier, Google stated the release of Tensor, a design SoC that will power the upcoming Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro smartphones.
Google Chat’s emoji has been updated to Emoji 13.1 version. According to Google’s Workspace Updates blog, the heterogeneity and inclusion-focused set now includes a gender-neutral option for gender-modifiable emojis. It can also save emoji skin tone and gender preferences for future reference.
The feature’s gradual rollout began for Android phones, and it may take up to few days for all devices to receive it. Customers of Google Workspace and G Suite Basic and Business can access the emoji set. According to the tech giant, the feature will be available in the coming weeks on Google Chat for Web and iOS.
Tensor, Google’s in-house designed custom processor, was revealed earlier. The Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro will be powered by Tensor, while the upcoming Pixel 5a models will continue to be powered by Qualcomm. Tensor’s release marks a separation from Qualcomm’s technology, which has powered the search giant’s Android devices for more than 15 years.
